        Can Riera de Montagut is a restored 16th century masia, located in a quiet valley on the Fluvia River, in the La Garrotxa Nature Park. The masia is divided into 5 suites, each with its own private bathroom. It is the perfect location for a stay with a large family, group of friends, group vacation or retreat.

5 Spacious rooms with ensuite bathroom
Can Riera de Montagut is divided into 5 luxury suites, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Each suite is unique and has its own advantages and charms. The interior consists of a mix of modern furniture, design classics and authentic details. The house was completely renovated in 2019 and has new furniture.
However, for guests requiring additional space, the house is also available with 7 bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom.

New swimming pool
The house features a large saltwater swimming pool (14 x 4 meters) that was installed in 2023. The pool has a shallow section for small children, and there is a large terrace with loungers around the pool. The pool is professionally maintained and always in perfect condition.
Barbecue Area
There is a spacious outdoor barbecue in the garden, which can be used all year round. This well-located facility is located near the swimming pool, next to a covered outdoor dining table and a short distance from a nearby bathroom. The barbecue can be used with charcoal and firewood. If available, you can use the firewood provided on site free of charge.
Fully equipped kitchen
The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with, among other things, 2 electric hobs, 2 electric ovens, 2 microwaves, 2 dishwashers and an authentic wood-fired oven for pizzas and bread.
Spacious dining room
The long, large table is ideal for a luxurious dinner or game nights.
For small children
We have baby cots, high chairs, changing tables and children's crockery available.
South-facing terrace
Adjacent to the kitchen and dining room is the south-facing terrace, where there are various seating areas.
Spacious garden
Enjoy the Catalan sun or find shade under the large walnut tree. There is also a covered terrace for dining outside in the shade on hot days. There is also a large, movable BBQ available.
Barbecue and pizza oven
The house has a great BBQ and we also offer wood and kindling for our guests. In addition, we also have a wood-fired pizza oven for evenings when it is not too hot.

The activity room can be used for various purposes, such as meetings, workshops, presentations, drinks or yoga classes.
Bicycle friendly
Can Riera de Montagut is a popular home base for cyclists. To better serve cycling groups, the masia is equipped with a repair station and a lockable storage room for bicycles. Can Riera de Montagut has a Bronze certificate for cycling friendly.

Below the house is an extra room where there is currently a ping pong table. This space can be used in various ways.
Neighbors
Can Riera has 2 direct neighbors, but due to the layout and location of the house, there is a lot of privacy and the neighbors rarely suffer from noise pollution and vice versa. However, we do ask our guests not to make noise outside after 22:00. The house is very well insulated due to its thick walls, so more noise can be produced inside after 22:00.
Late departure
Outside the high season, it is often possible to leave later on Sunday than the standard departure time of 11:00. In that case, you can use the house until the afternoon. If you want to use this, please contact us to discuss and plan a later departure.
Accessibility and parking
The house is very easily accessible by car. There is a paved road from the A-26, the highway from Girona to Olot, to the house. From the A-26 it is only a 3-minute drive to the house. The masia has plenty of covered parking for 4 cars adjacent to the garden.
The pool is available all year round. The pool is shared with guests from nearby accommodations.
The barbecue is available from October 16th to March 14th. During the rest of the year, the barbecue is not available due to the high risk of forest fires.
Can Riera de Montagut is located in a peaceful valley next to the Fluvia River. The house is only 1.5 km from the A26 between Olot and Besalú, and almost all the attractions in the area can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes.
The Neighborhood: Els Angles
Can Riera de Montagut is located in the area of "Els Angles". It is a peaceful valley with fields, a few houses, and a farm at the foot of the famous village of "Castellfollit de la Roca". The valley is formed by the Fluvia River that runs through it. From the house, there are several short and long hiking trails along the Fluvia, through the mountains, and up to Castellfollit de la Roca, which is only a 40-minute walk from Can Riera de Montagut.

       We had the best time at Can Riera. We spent 7 nights with 3 adults, 2 children & found the property to be spacious and comfortable for all of us. Pros: the entire house was comfortable & beautiful. The kitchen was great to use with double of everythisee more 
      We had the best time at Can Riera. We spent 7 nights with 3 adults, 2 children & found the property to be spacious and comfortable for all of us. Pros: the entire house was comfortable & beautiful. The kitchen was great to use with double of everything (stoves/sinks/coffee makers/microwaves). The pool was 10/10, and perfect to enjoy with the children. The BBQ & wood burning pizza oven were great amenities that we took full advantage of. The games area provided hours of entertainment with the pingpong table. Cons (only pointing out b/c not mentioned in listing): the internet was fast in the dining room/kitchen, but we found that it did not work well in the bedrooms so we couldn't use our baby monitor. The front entrance is only accessible via stairs, which made it difficult for a person with reduced mobility who was in our group to navigate. The main fridge was also temperamental, oscillating between freezing & not cold enough. We had a great time and will definitely return.
